This morning it was my privilege to gather with a group of women to learn more about LinkedIn. The group is varied with sales and marketing professionals from different types of businesses. Our speaker was Rebecca Vertucci, co-founder of The Vertucci Group, and is a Senior Customer Success Manager with LinkedIn.
I think for alot of us LinkedIn is a good resource for professional connection. But perhaps we aren’t using it to it’s full potential. Here are some things I learned that may be helpful to some of you.
Company page vs. Personal Page
Your Company Page should act as your hub, including the following:
- Company name and description of business
- Product descriptions
- Testimonials
- Content
- Rich Media
You can use it for:
- Ad campaigns
- Content strategy
- Tracking analytics
- Targeting and retargeting
- Sharing articles, posts and rich media – connect to website blog
Your Personal Page should be your way to reach out and should include:
- Name, Title, Company
- Photo – please do put a photo up there – we all want to see who you are!
- Description of your position, job, mission
- Include a brief description of your business as well – a quick profile of your company
You can use it for:
- Sharing Company articles, posts and rich media
- Sharing your own content
- Relationship building / Networking
- Sharing in Groups
- Responding, commenting, or answering questions on other people’s posts
- Establishing yourself as a thought leader, willing to help and share information
LinkedIn is great because it is a platform for engaged professionals. The quality of leads you can generate is higher than other social platforms.
Did you know?
- Following hashtags will help you find relevant content (just like other platforms)
- Using keywords is helpful with organic search
- There is a filter on the search feature which lets you get pretty specific with your research
- Topics that resonate well on LinkedIn include professional development, time management, wellness, and other professional / business related content
- Organic reach is strong
- Video is fairly new on LinkedIn and you can upload directly to the platform, no need to host on youtube or vimeo
- For paid ads it is quality over quantity of leads generated
- The help center now has a live chat feature. It is not available 24/7 but it is there to help when you can’t find your answer in FAQ
- With the free version, your results are related to your connections and groups
- With the premium plan you get more visibility in results, the ability to message people with no connection, and access to sales navigator
In the end I learned alot in an hour, sitting in a cozy coffee shop with some wonderful, collaborative professional women. What better way to spend a Friday morning?
